Consume Green Tea for Weight LossAccording to the Tea Association of the U.S.A., Inc. the most widely consumed beverage in the world next to water is tea and over 158 million Americans consume it. They further state that almost 84 billion servings (3.6 billion gallons) of tea were consumed by Americans in 2016. Out of that, 16% of tea consumed was green tea.  According to reports, green tea is growing at a much higher volume than black tea. It may be due to the people who realize the benefits of green tea for weight loss.

HEALTH BENEFITS OF GREEN TEA
There are several health benefits of consuming green tea. The biggest benefit is the amount of antioxidants (catechins). These catechins fight, and may even prevent, cell damage. Green tea has six primary catechin compounds. According to health experts, green tea also has many nutrients as well as anti-cancer and brain-healthy compounds.

Tea has a high content of flavonoids, which are plant-derived compounds that are antioxidants. Several studies have suggested that the flavonoids and caffeine in green tea have the following health benefits:
1) Increase metabolism
2) Increase fat oxidation
3) Improve insulin activity

The benefits of green tea can come from drinking as little as 2 1/2 cups per day. Therefore, you don’t need to drink large amounts in an effort to reap the benefits. Just remember not to add to much sugar or honey.

Matcha

This tea is the most popular and contains polyphenols (catechins). The polyphenols in black tea may block fat absorption. Studies have also shown that a cup per day improves cardiovascular function.

Mint tea
While inhaling this tea, it may help with suppressing your appetite as well as combatting hunger and cravings.

This tea has a great deal of catechins that will boost the body’s ability to metabolize fat, inhibit the body’s ability to absorb fat, and may help fight high blood pressure.

Rooibos tea
The compound in this tea has shown to reduce stress hormones that trigger fat storage and hunger, help reduce health conditions like cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes.

White tea
This tea is the richest and least processed tea that helps prevent the formation of new fat cells. It also helps decrease stress and promotes concentration.

Pu-erh tea
Because of an enzyme-activating ingredient, this fermented Chinese tea may shrink the size of your fat cells and may help inhibit the body’s absorption of fat.

Bilberry tea
This tea tastes naturally sweet and is full of antioxidants that help reduce blood sugar levels.

Lemon tea
Containing d-limonene, a compound found in citrus rind oil, this tea can help fight belly bloat due to  water retention.

Did you know there is a correct and incorrect way to brew green tea? Boiling hot water is bad for the catechins. Therefore, let the boiling water sit for about 10 minutes. Then, pour the water over the tea and brew before consuming. The brew time depends on your taste.

  1. I love green tea. I have always drunk it. I have always believed that it is also beneficial for your skin. I have 3 sisters, one of which is less than a year older than me and she looks way way older. My eldest whom I work with is 5 years older, however a customer wanted to know if she was my mother! I have consumed green tea forever and definitely attribute my younger looking than them skin to green tea (and sunscreen EVERY day).

    I didn’t know there was a correct and incorrect way to brew tea. When I make tea in a pot I have always boiled the water and dropped the tea bags in the pot while the water is boiling. I’ve been ruining the catchins! So, going forward, I will brew tea the correct way by letting the boiling water sit for 10 minutes and then pour the water over the tea and brew before consuming.
